Global Internship Program Experiences

Sofia Monteleone, 20 anni
Development Internship in Russia, Novosibirsk

"Modern Art Demonstration" project, organization of festival of Modern Art and International Culture.

"Its hard to explain to others what my internship means for me. Even if its almost passed half-an-year, I constantly think about that experience and how proud and happy I am to have chosen AIESEC in order to live an International program.

Living for 7 weeks in such a different place like Russia totally changes my way of seeing the world around me. Siberia is totally different from Italy, but I understood that, besides of history, language and cultural differences, we have all the same feelings, wishes and thoughts.

When I went abroad I was just an Exchange Participant of AIESEC, with no experience in any team works or leadership positions. "Modern Art Demonstration" project gave me the chance to believe in myself and be proactive in everything I do. I became also more confident with my strengths and weaknesses. So my internship was mainly a challenge to develop myself.

"MAD" project was created to let grows the conception of art in Siberia and to create an international environment in the third city of Russia. Thus, "MAD" project was my challenge of cultural meeting in Novosibirsk, capital of Siberia, centre of the Russia, meeting point of European and Asiatic culture.

Thanks to my internship I can say to have extended my friends network and its not a matter of numbers but it means that I have friends around the world with whom I keep in touch almost everyday and I know that they stand by me in every moment. One by one, they gave me a little piece of their world and with all of them Ive built mine.

Once, one of Russian AIESECers told me the sentence that, I guess, represents my internship the most: "Dont be a quitter, than no matter what happens believe in it and keep going on the fruits always come at the end of the summer."

After my summer and my AIESEC experience in Russia, I can say that the fruits are born and I lived the best experience ever. Thank you, AIESEC!"

Alessandra Grendene, 29 anni
Management Internship in Poland, Lublin.

How I can forget my amazing DT experience in Poland?
I went to Lublin, a nice university city located in the east of country closed to Ukraine. I left 1st of March and I came back Italy 1st of May.
I took part to a project called “Express your knowledge” planned by the committee of Lublin.

I worked in a wonderful team, made up of two girls coming from Japan and Kazakhstan and three guys coming from China, India and Vietnam. I had a really performant and positive team work experience. We lead workshops in english about entrepreneurship in the private and public high schools of  Lublin and the villages around. Me and my teammates, thanks to a strong motivation and a great mood, we gained excellent results because for the next edition of the project the number of high schools participants increased.
Me and my mates we have appreciated a lot polish culture and we found a big family in AIESEC Lublin!
This experience with AIESEC improved my public speaking skills, my attitude to work in a multicultural team and my problem solving skills. I advice to every aiesecer to go on internship because it’s an opportunity to grow and to extend your network.

Flavia Severin, 22 years
Development Internship in Egypt
Il Cairo, Giza
“Sea Waves Travel Agency” project.
Try to imagine to wake up one day, and to open your eyes in a place totally different from Italy, yellow landscapes around you, smells like history, Pyramids and Sphinx near you, 40 degrees, Mosques and much more… Suddenly somebody tells you: “Welcome to Egypt!”
Yes I went in Egypt! This experience really changed my mind, my whole life, from classification of my priorities to my way of thinking! I was with persons from all over the world, with different cultures, in particular Muslim one. I was there during Ramadan, and it’s like their Christmas, their 30 days of Feast. They couldn’t eat and drink all the day from sunrise to sunset. And do you know why? The meaning of Ramadan is to be all in the same level, it’s not important if you are rich or poor, because you have the same importance for God. It means spirituality, charity and much more. So, I tried to understand their feelings and I did it for two days! It was so amazing drinking after so many hours!
I remember time in our trips, from Luxor to Sharm, from Alexandria to Dahab, all the time with a lot of persons, all the time fun! We were like a family, and I mean, it’s not important if you are from a country or another one, you can feel at home everywhere you want if you stay with the best friends ever!
I lived 6 weeks near the amazing and emotional Nile, travelling on the fellucha, the famous typical boat, and it loocoming back in history, where Ancient Egyptian travelled and lived… It was like unbelievable and fascinated at the same time. I learnt so much from everybody, from work, with my Arabic colleagues, to ked like other experiences of life with others.
My colleagues were really available to help me, and they all the time try to involve me in their life! I felt like one of them and not a tourist!
And what about my job there? It was about trying to understand tourism in Egypt and then contact Egyptian hotel in order to make contracts, and then also now from Italy I’m working for my Travel Agency, because here I can contact other tour operators in Milan and continue to make business. Russian and Italian tourism in Egypt is really strong and important.
So what can I say more? Thanks to everybody to have been with me in all of occasions in Cairo, thanks to be still my friends!!! There’s no distance of kilometers, if you are near with your heart! An trust me guys, all of you are with me in Milan. And I’m sure we will see another time, in another place in the world, because world sometimes, is so small! I’ll share other experiences with other persons in the world, thanks AIESEC to connect people!
